Altobelli is a graduate of Pratt Institute and a student of expressionist art who also studied Bauhaus design and expressionism in East Germany during the 1970’s. Altobelli unveils images of exotic landscapes from the Caribbean islands, as well as women of a variety of ages, and ethnic groups, at all stages of life. These visually stimulating pieces allude to the self-discovery of women. With vigor, her paintings lay bare the goddess inherent in all women.

Trained as an expressionist painter but whose work is American in spirit, Mary Altobelli continues to infuse vitality and innovation into her paintings.
